PUBLICATIONCondon Report
What I learned
Working smarter, not harder, in InDesign
Designed over a period of 8 weeks, this book is an exercise in typography, pacing, layout, and mastering InDesign. Using Edward U. Condon’s Study of Unidentified Flying Objects for copy and data, this publication aims to capture that otherworldly, mysterious (and sometimes even a bit spooky) feeling of stumbling onto a dangerous artifact.
The Condon Report is 388 pages, with a black-on-black cover, off-white pages, and a section printed on bright green paper. Traditional serif typography is contrasted with a geometric, mechanical typeface, pulling in the science-fiction inspiration. Stark black redaction gradually increases in aggression, as the type layouts become more chaotic and glitchy, creating a feeling of unease; this is a highly classified document that you probably should not be in possession of… and it knows that.
