Green Thumbs Detroit is a (fictitious) non-profit organization that supports food equity in the Metro detroit area. Inspired by the increasing popularity of urban farming in Detroit, which has attempted to mitigate Detroit’s food desert issue, Green Thumbs Detroit has pioneered a specialized aeroponic technology that allows Detroit’s to grow their own fruits and veggies at home — no previous gardening experience required.

This project was born from a (not so) simple task: develop a speculative solution to the issues around agricultural production in Metro Detroit and Wayne County. My colleagues and I spent the first few weeks learning as much about these issues as possible. We scoured web sources and books and even interviewed an expert in the field. Armed with our research, we started brainstorming and prototyping solutions.
Thus Green Thumbs Detroit was born. We created a full branding system, a website mockup, and informational video, a screen-printed tote, and the Sprout Kit which comes with a sample pack of enhancing filters, a iso-printed booklet, and the Sprout itself.
